Maize Starch Production : Overview
Maize starch is a widely used ingredient in food, pharmaceutical, and industrial applications. At M/S MANOHAR MALTO, we produce high-quality maize starch through a careful and efficient process, ensuring purity, consistency, and excellent functional properties.
Raw Material
Maize (corn) kernels :Selected for quality, starch content, and moisture.
Production Process
- Cleaning and Sorting : Maize kernels are cleaned to remove stones, dust, husks, and other impurities using sieves, aspirators, and magnetic separators.
- Steeping : Kernels are soaked in water (sometimes with a small amount of sulfur dioxide) to soften them and facilitate starch extraction.
- Grinding/Milling : Soaked maize is ground to separate germ, fiber, protein, and starch.
- Separation of Starch : The slurry is processed through screens and centrifuges to extract pure starch granules.
- Washing and Purification : Extracted starch is washed multiple times to remove residual proteins and fibers, ensuring a high-purity product.
- Dewatering and Drying : Purified maize starch is dewatered and dried into fine powder suitable for industrial and food applications.
Applications of Maize Starch
- Food Industry: Thickening, baking, snacks, sauces, and confectionery
- Pharmaceuticals: Tablet binders and fillers
- Industrial Uses: Adhesives, paper, textiles, biodegradable products
