Dal Milling: Overview
Dal milling is the process of cleaning, splitting, and processing pulses (like lentils, chickpeas, and mung beans) into edible dal and byproducts. Proper milling ensures high-quality, nutritious, and safe pulses for consumption.
Raw Material
Whole Pulses : Carefully selected pulses like moong, masoor, chana, and urad.
Dal Milling Process
- Cleaning and Sorting : Pulses are cleaned to remove stones, dirt, dust, husks, and other foreign materials using sieves, air blowers, and magnetic separators.
- Splitting : Pulses are split using roller or impact splitters to create uniform dal.
- Grading and Sorting : BDal is graded based on size and color; broken pieces are separated and used for dals or flour.
- Packaging : Processed dal and byproducts are packed hygienically for storage and distribution.
